AP Workshop July 21st-25th 2008

This page allows you to apply for the CollegeBoard Endorsed AP Workshop to be held at Georgia Tech. This workshop will be taught by Barbara Ericson of Georgia Tech. Barbara Ericson has a BS and MS in Computer Science and has worked in the field for over 20 years. She has worked in both industry and academia. She has taught undergraduate and continuing education courses for Georgia Tech. She is a member of the Computer Science Teachers Association Board and has been an AP Reader since 2006.

This workshop is aimed at both new and experienced AP CS A and AB teachers. We will do break-out sessions for different topics. We will expect you to have a firm grasp of Java basics. If you don't have at least one year of experience in Java we recommend that you take the Beginning Programming in Java Workshop first and teach that course for a year or more.

If you are a new AP CS teacher we recommend that you take the Int Prog in Java workshop first. You can take the Int Prog in Java and AP workshop the same summer if you have at least 1 year experience teaching Java.

The workshop will run from 8:300am - 4:30 pm each day except Friday when we will end at 11:30am. For more information about the workshop see http://coweb.cc.gatech.edu/ice-gt/606.

We will pay for Georgia teachers hotel, meals, and parking if you are from outside of the Atlanta area (> 30 miles from Georgia Tech). This is becuase of a grant from the National Science Foundation. You will be staying at the with two teachers per room unless you wish to pay the additional cost for a private room. Out of state teachers will need to cover their own hotel, parking, and meals (except lunch).

The tuition for the workshop is $450 per person. A deposit of $125 must be received by June 23, 2008. The balance is due by July 7rd, 2008. The deposit is refundable until June 23, 2008. Checks or purchase orders should be made out to the Georgia Institute of Technology. Space is limited to 30, so please send your deposit as soon as possible. Send your payment to:
